MODE OF ACTION
Double stranded DNA of bacterial chromosomes must undergo a high degree of
packing in order to fit Into bacterial cell. To achieve this, isotopomerase initiate
three dimensional coiling of DNA. A specific enzyme called DNA–gyrase
finally produces the necessary supercoiling of DNA. Enrofloxacin inhabits the
DNA-gyrase and kills the bacteria.
